Southend is owned and run by Reece Harris, who is passionate about delivering fun, practical training in a relaxed environment. Reece’s love of dogs began in childhood, strengthened by a close bond with his grandfather’s pet. His first dog, a rescue Sprocker, sparked his interest in behaviour and psychology. Later, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning German Shepherds—his preferred breed for their intelligence, versatility, and striking looks. Over the years, Reece has owned four German Shepherds, attending classes, exploring gundog and scent detection work, and developing “the bug” for training.

After retiring from the police, he committed more time to training, assisting in classes and deepening his knowledge. Reece has completed the Spirit dog trainer course, trained with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, and is studying behaviour with the British College of Canine Studies. His calm, reflective approach focuses on positive, ethical methods that strengthen the bond between dogs and owners.
